3. Accessing the website and server logs
Our website is run on our own server on our premises. Each time the website is accessed, the server automatically stores the following data in a log: IP address, date and time, page or file accessed, amount of data transferred, status code, the page from which you came to us, and browser and operating system.
We need this data to deliver the website, detect errors and ensure the security of our systems. The legal basis is our legitimate interest under Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Access logs are automatically deleted after 14 days. Error logs are deleted after … days (to be specified by IT). The data is not combined with other data.
4. No cookies, no analytics or advertising services
Our website does not set cookies and does not store any information in your browser. We do not use analytics, statistics or advertising services. Fonts, images and videos are loaded from our own server; no data is transmitted to third parties when you access the website. The exception is the map on the contact page, which you only load if you choose to (see section 8).
Only the password-protected editing area for our staff (/admin/) sets a technically necessary session cookie when it is opened; it expires when the browser is closed or after 60 minutes of inactivity at the latest (section 25 (2) TDDDG). It is not relevant for visitors to the website.
5. Contact form and email
If you write to us using the contact form, we process your details (request, name, company if given, email address, phone number and consignment number if given, your message) in order to handle your enquiry. Mandatory fields are marked. The details are transmitted to our server in encrypted form and forwarded from there by email via our own mail server to info@meyer-jumbo.de. They are not stored on the web server itself. The same applies if you write to us directly by email.
The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR if your enquiry relates to a contract or the initiation of a contract (e.g. a quote request or a question about a consignment), and otherwise our legitimate interest in answering your enquiry under Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. We delete the data when it is no longer needed for processing, at the latest after … (deletion concept), unless statutory retention obligations apply.
Spam protection: To prevent mass automated messages, when a form is submitted we store a hash value of your IP address and the times of your requests for a maximum of 15 minutes (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
Safe-place authorisation form
With the safe-place authorisation form you can allow us to leave your consignment at a specific place. For this purpose we process the consignment number, order or delivery note number if given, name, delivery address, the chosen place with description, the name and address of your neighbour if applicable, email address and phone number if given. The details are sent by email to service@meyer-jumbo.de and passed on to the delivering driver. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (delivery of your consignment) or our legitimate interest in smooth delivery under Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. We delete the data after delivery has been completed, at the latest after … (deletion concept), unless statutory retention obligations apply. Spam protection as described above.
6. Applications
How we process data from applications, including the quick application on our website, is explained in the privacy notice for applicants below.
7. Chat assistant “Jumbo”
Our chat assistant “Jumbo” is a program that runs entirely in your browser. It answers questions based on fixed topics and the texts on this website. Your entries in the chat are not transmitted to us or third parties and are not stored.
Only when you actively send your request to our team do we transmit your request, name, email address, phone number and consignment number if given, your message and the chat history by email to service@meyer-jumbo.de. Legal basis, spam protection and deletion are the same as for the contact form (section 5). No external chat provider is involved.
If you enter a consignment number in the chat, the assistant only checks it in your browser, copies it to your clipboard if you wish and opens our recipient tracking in a new window.
8. Google Maps
On our contact page you can choose to display a map from the Google Maps service. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”).
The map is not loaded automatically. Only when you click “Show map” does your browser connect to Google's servers. In particular, your IP address, browser information and the page accessed are transmitted to Google, and Google may store cookies or similar technologies on your device. Data may also be transferred to Google LLC in the USA. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, on the basis of which the European Commission has found an adequate level of data protection.
The legal basis is your consent, which you give by clicking “Show map” (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, section 25 (1) TDDDG). Your choice is not saved: the next time you visit the page, the map is hidden again. You can use the “Plan your route” link without any data being transmitted beforehand; it opens Google Maps in a new window. Information on data protection at Google: policies.google.com/privacy.
9. Links to our portals and external sites
Our website contains links to recipient tracking, the customer portal, online order entry (operated by our service provider orderrace add full company name) and the claims portal. These are simple links: data is only transmitted when you click a link. The privacy notices given there apply to the portals.
10. Our presence on social networks
We are present on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. On our website these networks are only linked; no plugins or content from the networks are embedded, and data is only transmitted when you click a link.
When you visit our pages on these networks, the operators process your data in accordance with their own privacy policies. For the statistics on our pages (“Insights”), we are jointly responsible with the respective operator (Art. 26 GDPR): for Facebook and Instagram with Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, Ireland, and for LinkedIn with LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, Wilton Place, Dublin 2, Ireland. The operators have undertaken to assume the main GDPR obligations for these statistics; you can also exercise your rights directly with them. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in presenting our company (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). To be checked by the data protection officer
11. Recipients and transfers to third countries
We run the website and email on our own servers on our premises. Within the company, personal data from the website is only received by the departments that handle your request. Data is only transferred to countries outside the EU in connection with Google Maps (section 8) and only after you click.
